Mail delivery

Thank you to the Cokato Elementary Post Office for allowing our Kindergarten classrooms to visit and learn about how the mail we write, seal, and stamp is delivered to our family and friends. Was great to learn how much goes into delivering our precious mail! Our kindergarten students had a great time!

Timeline projects

Look at the work of our 2nd grade students and their timeline projects! A lot of hard work and fun went into these projects! Thanks to all the 2nd grade students for sharing their stories with Cokato Elementary!

Reading Counts Hall of Fame

Check out our Cokato Elementary Reading Counts Hall of Fame wall! It is filling up fast with students earning Reading Counts points to move their names on the wall. The week of February 27-March 3 we Read Across America and Cokato focused on dress up days and activities with kids themed from many popular Dr. Seuss books ending our week with a Cat in the Hat day. The kids had a great week, read a bunch, and truly dressed for the occasions!

Kindergarten Round Up

Save the date! Kindergarten Round-Up for Cokato Elementary is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28th at 3:45pm. If you have a child who is eligible to attend kindergarten next fall (age 5 on or before September 1st), you should be attending the Round-Up activities. We will send letters out early March to give you more information. If your child is eligible, and you do not receive a letter by March 7th, or you know of someone new in the area, please contact Karen Barton at the school. 320.286.4100 ext 1300

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES

Save these items and help us raise additional funds for our school!

Box Tops

Look for products with the Box Top for Education coupon. Each coupon is worth 10 cents!  Please check the expiration date and trim the coupon. Sometimes we will have a special event for the program. The students enjoy collecting for a special goal.  Keep on clipping!  See boxtops4education.com for online shopping, saving and clipping, too!

Food Club/Cash Wise Labels for Learning

Labels for learning is an easy rewards program. There is a separate  printing attached to your receipt with the points for redemption. Please clip this, check the expiration date, and send into school with your student. (If you would like to collect for a while, count the points and then tally and send that to us--yea!) We need to send in the points in bundles of 2,500.

Pop Can Tops/Tabs

Yes, we still collect the tabs from the top of cans!  We have a wonderful little collection “house” and the tabs are collected and turned into the local McDonalds for the Ronald McDonald House in the metro area. These can be turned in any time!

Empty Printer Cartridges, etc.

Over 25 million pounds of empty printer cartridges and cell phones are thrown in landfills each year. Send those old cell phones and empty laser, inkjet, fax and copier cartridges into Cokato Elementary. You will help the environment, too!

Shoparoo

This is a fairly new fundraising option for us (started last year!). Their theme is: Shop, Snap and Earn. This is a free app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Select Cokato Elementary as your school choice, take a picture of your receipt--shop anywhere, buy anything.  For more information please check out shoparoo.com to learn more.

Keeping Cokato Elementary Students, Parents, and Visitors Safe

If you ever visit Cokato Elementary in the morning before school or in the afternoon right after school you can see many children, parents, and families walking to and from Cokato Elementary. Due to all of the traffic these visits create, we sometimes get double parking or students who walk from cars across the road; both create dangerous travel for all of our Cokato Elementary students, parents, and visitors.

In cooperation with the Wright County Sheriff’s Department, Cokato Elementary will be working to
monitor traffic around Cokato Elementary School. This monitoring effort will be focused on times before school and after school to make sure we continue to keep everyone who attends and visits Cokato Elementary safe! Our efforts are to make sure the traffic is not double parked and students are not walking from cars to cross the street where there is no supervision or cross walks.

Parents and caregivers who are driving their children to school or picking them up after school must drop them off at Door B and along the curb of the Cokato Elementary building side. Please do not allow your children to cross the street in front of traffic due to safety of all children.

Thanks for your efforts to keep everyone safe around Cokato Elementary!

FRIDAY IS CHARGER DAY

As a continuation of our school pride theme, all students and staff are encouraged to wear the Dassel-Cokato Charger colors on Fridays throughout the year.

The colors are blue and white.

DC CHARGER SONG LYRICS

Here come the DC Chargers,
fighting to keep our honor;
Cheer for the DC Chargers,
we’ll win this game! (Rah, Rah, Rah!)
Here’s to the blue and white;
with all our might we’ll fight.
Onward to victory,
we’ll win this game tonight! (Fight!)

GO CHARGERS!!!

Congratulations to Cokato Elementary!

Cokato Elementary was named a “2013 Celebration School” by the Minnesota Department of Education for improving student achievement and decreasing the achievement gap between our students!
